Sonu Aggarwal, CEO

Sonu was the Director of Program Management/Group Program Manager for the Office Communications Server team at Microsoft, where he drove the roadmap, technical feature set, and execution for the OCS Server product line including Live Communications Server 2005, Office Communications Server 2007, and the roadmap for the next  two releases of Office Communications Server.  Sonu led the OCS Program Management team responsible for the feature set, feature design and technical specifications for all Server aspects of OCS.  He drove extensive customer feedback from dozens of global enterprises into the technical design of OCS.  

Most recently, Sonu was the Director of Technical Strategy and Partnerships for OCS, where he led technical roadmap and delivery for the Open Interoperability Program and Microsoft's partnerships with Nortel, Cisco, and other IP-PBX vendors. 

Sonu has a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  At the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science, he invented the first time-optimal self-stabilizing spanning tree algorithms for asynchronous computer networks.  Sonu co-invented Enterprise Instant Messaging at his company Flash Communications, which was acquired by Microsoft in 1998 to seed its enterprise Real-Time Collaboration efforts starting with Exchange 2000.  Sonu has 4 patents in Real-Time Collaboration, including the first-ever patent for enterprise Instant Messaging.  He is the co-author of Internet RFC 2779. 

Alan Shen, Director

Alan’s brings over 10 years Microsoft experience as a Program Manager in the Mobility, Networking, and Office Communications Server groups.    As a Senior Program Manager for Microsoft Office Communications Server, Alan designed the Audio/Video Conferencing Edge solution for Office Communications Server 2007.   This firewall traversal technology has been adopted by the Microsoft Windows Live Messenger service, now connecting over 1 billion voice minutes per month.  Alan is a regular speaker at Microsoft technical events, including  Voice Ignite, TechReady, and TechEd.   

Most recently, Alan was a Senior Program Manager for the Office Communications Server Technology Adoption Program (TAP), which enabled dozens of global enterprise customers and over 100 Partners with their Office Communications Server 2007 deployments.    Alan led the Voice Technology Adoption Program focused on enterprise deployments of OCS Voice, and was a key approver for over 100 customer designs for interfacing with Gateways & PBXs.   

Previously, as a Program Manager on the Microsoft Windows Mobile team, Alan designed and drove the cellular middleware and driver layers currently used in all Windows Mobile devices.    Alan has a B.S. in Computer Engineering and an M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington.

Arun Raghavan, Director

Arun brings 8 years of software development experience at Microsoft focused on Microsoft’s enterprise manageability solutions.   Most recently, Arun was a Senior Development Lead for the Microsoft Operations Manager product group, where he was responsible for developing more than 40 MOM Management Packs for Microsoft products including Exchange, Active Directory, Sharepoint, SQL Server, and Windows Server 2003/2008.  Arun co-designed and implemented the Agent Deployment component of MOM, which is a distributed system for deploying agent-based IT software to thousands of servers. 

Arun also developed the synthetic transactions components of MOM – best-of-breed Microsoft solutions for monitoring enterprise Web and Database Applications.    Together, these MOM components have resulted in typical IT cost savings for global enterprises in the order of millions of dollars annually.   Arun has a B.E. in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, and an M.S. in Computer Science from Iowa State University.

Madan Aggarwal, Director - Strategy & Operations

Madan was the Chairman and co-founder of Cordant, an enterprise Instant Messaging company focused on Instant Messaging archiving solutions.   Madan brings over 30 years of Technology management experience, including almost a decade of experience at IBM and experience defining enterprise IT strategy.   Madan has a B.E. from the Delhi College of Engineering , an M.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, and an M.B.A. from McGill University.
